National Mental Health Services 

9-8-8 Suicide Crisis Helpline. If you or someone you know is thinking about suicide, call or text 9-8-8.

Kids Help Phone 

Kids Help Phone is Canada’s only 24/7 e-mental health service offering free, confidential support to Canadians aged 5 to 29 who want confidential and anonymous care from trained responders in English and French.

Talk Suicide (Crisis Service Canada)  

Talk Suicide Canada provides nationwide, 24-hour, toll-free, bilingual support to anyone who is facing suicide, struggling to understand or cope with suicidal thoughts, or worried about someone else. Trained responders listen without judgement, provide support and understanding, and provide information about resources that will help.  

Talk Suicide exists to provide moments of connection that create hope, support recovery, and save lives. They help people connect to their strengths and find new ways to cope, live and thrive. Togetherall is a safe, online community where people support each other anonymously to improve mental health and well-being. Canadians have free access through organizations, colleges and universities. Well Central

Well Central is a program from the Canadian Mental Health Association. It is an accessible and completely free virtual Recovery College offering interactive courses that empower individuals to take control of their mental health and well-being. The Well-Being Course offers an interactive learning process guiding individuals through six dimensions of well-being: physical, social, emotional, cognitive, meaning and purpose and environmental well-being. Individuals can access Well Central courses through their website https://wellcentral.ca/

Wellness Together Canada

Youthspace.ca

British Columbia 

1800SUICIDE

1800SUICIDE (1-800-784-2433) provides a confidential, 24-hour toll-free crisis line for people who are feeling suicidal, are concerned for someone who might be suicidal, or for emotional support. 
 
Crisis line workers are able to provide intervention through emergency mental health teams or other emergency services, and may also refer callers to their local crisis centre for additional support and information. 

Crisis Centre Chat

Crisis Centre Chat provides online, one-on-one chat for adults in emotional distress who need safe, confidential and non-judgemental support and information. Support is available for youth, adults and seniors on their website at: https://crisiscentrechat.ca/
 
Trained volunteers can also provide topic-specific information and resources to caregivers and professionals looking to learn more about various mental health related issues.

Seniors Distress Line

The Seniors Distress Line provides free and confidential telephone support service for seniors, their caregivers or anyone concerned about a senior. Calls are answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by highly trained, non-judgemental and caring volunteers. 
 
Those who may benefit from this service include seniors who are feeling alone, facing difficult life situations, wanting help working through a problem, or looking for information on community resources.

YouthInBC – Chat Line

YouthInBC – Chat line provides a web-based hotline for BC youth in distress. The service is provided through a live chat function, and email. The website also provides resources and information on youth mental health issues, as well as links to the crisis intervention telephone line.

Saskatchewan 

211 Saskatchewan

211 Saskatchewan is a free, confidential, 24/7 service that connects individuals to human services in the province by telephone, text, or web chat, plus a searchable website with over 6,000 listings of social, community, non-clinical health, and government services across the province. 

In addition to searching on the 211 Saskatchewan website, individuals can call 2-1-1, text 2-1-1 or go online to chat with trained professionals to help find and navigate services they need. This access to community, health and government services is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Over 175 languages, including 17 Indigenous languages, are available over the phone. 

Mobile Crisis Service

Mobile Crisis Service is open to all individuals and is a service without fees. The caller defines his/her need sometimes with the assistance of the crisis worker. Crisis Workers then respond accordingly, based on assessment of risk.

Individuals and families may call for direct or indirect help for their loved ones with other challenges, such as Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Acquired Brain Injury, physical disabilities, and mental health problems. Suicide prevention support is available in the following communities:

Access to free counselling, psychiatric care or other programs and services is through the public health system’s Addiction and Mental Health Services. The Reach Out Support Line is a volunteer-based, confidential, non-judgmental, and free support line run by the Canadian Mental Health Association, Yukon Division. The toll-free Mental Health Wellness Support Line can be reached by calling 1-833-390-1041 ext. 1 between 7am and 11pm daily. This confidential, Métis-owned and operated service offers citizens culturally appropriate mental health supports in both English and French.

Hope for Wellness Helpline

Hope for Wellness Helpline is available 24/7 to all Indigenous people across Canada via phone at 1-855-242-3310 or online chat at hopeforwellness.ca. Phone and chat counselling is available in English, French, Cree, Ojibway and Inuktitut. Note that supports in Cree, Ojibway, and Inuktitut are not available 24/7, so you may need to call in to find out the next time that a language-speaker will be available.
