We are seeking junior freelance writers for our digital publication. As a growing, independent media company, we are looking for writers with top-notch writing skills and with a passion for researching and writing about healthcare to join our team.

We’re looking for journalists with a deep passion for consumer healthcare to contribute to our digital publication and social media channels, reporting on a wide range of topics that pertain to the Canadian healthcare consumer.
The ideal candidate(s) will have a strong research background, experience in data journalism and storytelling using digital interactive tools including the written word, video, audio and any other that might apply.
Job description:
- Led by THI team editorial team, research, develop and produce stories, news, resources and other content development as assigned.
- Write copy in accordance with prescribed editorial and formatting guidelines.
- Develop sources for interviews.
- Use best SEO practices to ensure content is optimized for search.
- Create infographics or charts for publication, where relevant.
- Proofread and fact check your assignments to detect and correct errors and ensure all data is properly sourced.
Requirements:
- Minimum a BA in journalism; healthcare journalism would be an asset.
- Minimum 1 to 2 years experience professional writing
- Excellent writer with experience writing editorial directed at consumers.
- Experience using tools such as Canva, Soundcloud, other media and social media platforms is an asset.
- Capacity to work with minimal supervision.
- Self-motivated, disciplined.
- Creative.
- Strong interviewing skills.
- Understanding of the nuances behind healthcare reporting.
- Knowledge of CP style
- Interest in and ability to interview and report on camera would be an asset.
This is a remote, freelance contract.
