With a growing subscriber base and national footprint, THI serves as a trusted voice for patients, caregivers, and advocates across Canada.

We’re looking for a creative, health-literate Part-Time Social Media Manager to help us expand and elevate our daily presence across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn. The ideal candidate is passionate about digital storytelling, understands health and wellness communication, and can translate complex topics into engaging, platform-specific content that resonates with audiences from Gen Z to Boomers.

Position Overview

This remote, part-time role (approximately 4 hours per day, Monday to Friday) involves developing, scheduling, and posting content daily—both aligned with The Health Insider’s editorial calendar and responsive to trending conversations, seasonal health topics, or breaking news.

The Social Media Manager will also review our existing channels and submit a short strategic proposal outlining how they would improve reach, engagement, and consistency. This proposal is a key component of the selection process.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation & Posting

  • Produce high-quality, platform-specific content (short videos, reels, graphics, stories, posts) for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • Repurpose editorial articles into compelling, visual-first social media formats.
  • Develop timely content around trending, seasonal, or emerging health topics.
  • Write strong, engaging captions and optimize hashtags.
  • Maintain a consistent visual identity using tools such as Canva.

Community Engagement

  • Monitor engagement, track audience sentiment, and suggest improvements.
  • Respond to comments and messages, fostering an interactive online community.
  • In conjunction with the editorial team, identify and engage with influencers, thought leaders, and relevant partners.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Track, analyze, and report on social media metrics and performance.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations for improving reach and engagement.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with the editorial team to align posts with ongoing articles, campaigns, and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure brand consistency across all channels.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing social media for a brand, media outlet, or health-focused organization
  • Strong visual storytelling and short-form video editing skills (Canva, CapCut, Reels/TikTok editors)
  • In-depth understanding and constantly updated knowledge of TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn algorithms and best practices
  • Excellent creative, copywriting, and design skills
  • Ability to adapt tone and style for diverse audiences (Millennials to Boomers)
  • Familiarity with Canadian healthcare issues, wellness trends, and patient advocacy
  • Skill in translating scientific or medical information into accessible, engaging content
  • Reliable, self-directed, and deadline-driven, with the ability to manage development and posting of multiple formats on 4 different platforms each week.
  • Based in Canada, authorized to work here.
